  • Two-year-old dog locked jaws on her hair and left her fearing being ‘scalped’
  • Son Duane Cooper filmed the incident and it has gone viral on Facebook
  • Mr Cooper stepped in to stop Oscar when he realised he was hurting her

This is the shocking moment a grandmother was almost ‘scalped’ by a golden labrador after he locked his jaws on her hair bun.

Sharon Curry, 51, was visiting her daughter Emma Morrison’s house when two-year-old dog Oscar launched himself onto her while she was sat on the sofa and aggressively yanked on her blonde locks.

The incident was caught on camera by her son Duane Cooper, who was visiting his sister at the time, and uploaded to Facebook where it has been viewed more than 4million times.

But Ms Curry was not angry with Oscar and the family say he is often pulling ‘cheeky’ stunts like this and is particularly fond of the grandmother-of-13.

In the clip Ms Curry can be seen sitting on the sofa with Oscar hanging off her shoulders as she tried to wriggle free and shouted ‘He’s pulling my hair out!’

Meanwhile another family pet, 11-year-old Jack Russell Basher, valiantly tried to pull the labrador off her.

Ms Curry, of Newcastle, said she was worried her hair would be pulled out by Oscar, who had already nibbled on one of her sandals and devoured a hairbrush that day.

She said: ‘I felt like I was going to get scalped. He’d already chewed my sandals, eaten a hairbrush and then this happened. Duane caught Oscar in the nick of time.

‘He’s not vicious in the slightest, he’s just cheeky and likes to show off sometimes.’

She added: ‘I panicked and screamed a bit – his tail was going so I know he was only playing but I’m not giving him the opportunity to do it again.’

Fast food shift manager Duane captured the comical scenes when he went to visit his kitchen assistant mum at his sister Emma Morrison’s home at 4pm.

Mr Cooper, 26, said: ‘He’s [Oscar] like a big kid, he likes to show off.

‘I don’t know what it is about her that gets him going. She always manages to push him down, but I think because he got hold of her hair she couldn’t manage to get him off on her own.

‘I had one percent left on my phone when I saw him with her hair I couldn’t help but laugh and knew I had to video it.

‘When I could see he was actually hurting her I stopped recording to get him off her.

‘Basher was trying to protect my mam from what Oscar’s doing. The noise she was making was making me laugh but also the way he was pulling her bun and making her head go back and forwards.

‘Once I got him off her he went for a drink slowly lay on the floor knackered from all the excitement.’
