The board works by reading the positioning of the rider’s body – if they lean forward it will move ahead
The board moves according to the rider’s positioning – depending on if their weight is forwards of backwards.
Depending on the movement, the electric motor will then propel the hoverboard.
The device first came from Shenzhen, China in 2013. There does not seem to be one specific inventor of the hoverboard.

In 2015, a man from Kent said his hoverboard exploded in their home in Deal.
Paul Hodkinson said the hoverboard went off in their kitchen, causing £25,000 worth of damage.
He said: ‘You don’t expect a toy you buy for your grandchildren to explode like that. If one of the grandchildren had been anywhere near that scooter they could have been killed.’
