New father is shot dead by his wife’s uncle while pushing two-month-old daughter in a pram after family had appeared on Turkish Jeremy Kyle-style show to settle differences

A young father was shot dead by a relative in a Turkish street, months after the family appeared on a reality TV show to settle their differences.
Alperen Kahraman, 19, was gunned down in Corlu while he was out shopping with his wife Melisa Kahraman, also 19, and pushing their two-month-old daughter in a pram.
CCTV showed the gunman, believed to be his wife’s uncle Durmus, confronting Alperen and shooting him dead while his wife went into a shop.

The wife’s family had reportedly accused Alperen of kidnapping their daughter in February this year order to marry her.
Earlier this year, they had appeared on a Jeremy Kyle-type show in Turkey to discuss the family dispute.
On the show, Melisa Kahraman said she had not been kidnapped and had married Alperen willingly.
The couple appeared on the show together, along with Melisa’s mother and father.

After the shooting in Corlu, the alleged killer fled the scene but was quickly stopped by police.
According to reports, two passers-by were also hit by ricocheting bullets and were taken to hospital nearby.
Meanwhile, Kahraman’s body was taken to the same hospital’s morgue to undergo an autopsy, according to local media.
The suspected killer has so far refused to give a statement to Turkish police without his lawyer.
The investigation continues.
