NSW holiday road toll climbs to 25

The death of a woman following a car crash on the Central Coast has brought the NSW road toll during the Christmas period to 25.

The 91-year-old woman, who was hospitalised following the crash at San Remo on Christmas Day, died in hospital on Sunday as a result of her injuries, NSW Police said in a statement.

An 80-year-old man died in hospital on Saturday as a result of injuries he sustained in a car crash near Newcastle on December 22.

There have been 25 road deaths since December 15, which was the start of Operation Safe Arrival, the state’s Christmas and New Year road safety campaign.
