One Bondi surgeon is performing lunch-break nose jobs

Forget painful Botox or complicated breast implants – the latest fad sweeping Australia is a procedure known as the ‘lunch break nose job’.

Veteran plastic surgeon Dr William Moody says thousands of office-workers are flocking to his Bondi clinic to have a one-hour nose job, which uses injections to simply reshape the nose.

According to Dr Mooney, nose job recipients looking for a subtle fix for bumps, uneven slopes or crooked bridges are now opting for the non-surgical route instead.

‘I have a lot of people who come in with little irregularities or little bumps who want to reshape their nose quickly and without surgery,’ Dr Mooney told Daily Mail Australia.

‘It takes about an hour and people often come in and go straight back to work. It’s a real “millennial nose job” because that generation just craves immediacy and wants everything right away.’

The rhinoplasty expert performs around five injectable nose jobs per day from his Bondi surgery, and says he has seen people from all walks of life come in for a consultation.

‘I’ve had one girl come in, who was really beautiful but had this dent in her nose that I fixed straight away with the procedure. I also get a lot of Greeks, Italians and Oriental people wanting to alter their noses slightly,’ Dr Mooney said.

‘It is often just a case of camouflaging some small irregularity on the nose, and I always recommend injectable rhinoplasty to patients wanting surgical nose jobs.’

Dr Mooney says the remarkable difference between his procedures and surgical alternatives is he injects synthetic collagen or polyacrylamide to reshape the nose, instead of removing flesh.

‘I can make a nose look smaller just by injecting into different parts of it,’ he said.

‘It is so straightforward and low risk I have patients who pop in on their lunch break and can return to work with only minimal swelling or bruising.’

Before having the procedure, patients come in for a consultation where Dr Mooney injects saline instead to provide a temporary idea of what their nose will look like after.

Rhinoplasty recipients then return at another date for the procedure itself, which can take as little as 15 minutes – many returning to their job straight away.

‘Sometimes only a millimetre can make a difference to the shape and appearance of a nose,’ Dr Mooney adds.

While plastic surgery and body alterations are hardly uncommon in Australia, Dr Mooney says he psychologically profiles every patient to ensure they are not suffering from body dysmorphia.

‘Before I book a patient in I look for any red flags, such as someone who has had too many different procedures or if they have severe body images issues,’ he said.

‘Every single day I come across people who don’t actually need the procedure at all. And that is the fault of today’s climate of reality television and toxic media.

‘I have an eight-year-old daughter and I don’t want her to ever think she needs to change herself. I am scared for the future she is going into.’

Dr Mooney also warns those seeking plastic surgery for ‘the wrong reasons’ should think twice before altering their face or body.

‘This procedure is purely cosmetic and is to fix tiny issues. If you want it because you think it will help you find a partner or get a better job then it is not for you,’ he adds.
