Penny was joined on the outing by her son Alistair, 18, who was seen going for a surf lesson as his mother watched on.

Penny arrived to the beach in a gold sheer mini dress which she paired with a matching handbag.

The presenter also wore a tan sun hat and carried a cream tot bag as she enjoyed some rest and relaxation on the trip.

After going for a dip, Penny worked on her tan as she kicked back on the sands while chatting with Alastair.

Rod has been in the midst of touring Australia, and while he has been busy serenading his fans, Penny has been enjoying some sightseeing Down Under.

The model-turned-policewoman shared a sweet snap of herself cuddling up to an adorable koala while visiting The Sydney Zoo at Eastern Creek on Wednesday.

Rod recently revealed Penny will be on duty as a police officer at the King’s Coronation concert in May.

Penny applied to become a special constable after taking part in reality TV programme Famous and Fighting Crime where she joined officers on the beat.

During filming, she was at one point confronted by a drug dealer who threatened to stab her.

The mother-of-two, who married Sir Rod in 2007, said the experience inspired her to become a police officer.

Rod angered fans earlier this month when he cancelled his Geelong show three hours before hitting the stage as he came down with a bout of strep throat.

The London native took to his Instagram to apologise for the last minute cancellation, which left fans furious.

‘Hello my friends. I’m absolutely downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green,’ he wrote.

‘Late this morning I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing. I’m only human and sometimes get sick just like you do.’

He continued: ‘My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage!’

Now the British singer, 78, has rescheduled the anticipated concert at Mt Duneed Estate, which he will perform with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens, for Friday.

In a statement he sent out on Thursday, the rock star said he is ‘feeling great’ and asked fans to ‘please hang on to your tickets’.

The crooner is currently touring the country with Lauper, 69, and Stevens, 61, and the trio first performed together in Perth on March 11.
