Plane ‘runs over ground crew worker’ at Gatwick Airport

A plane has run over a ground crew worker at Gatwick Airport, according to reports.

Photographs show an aircraft at the Surrey-based airport surrounded by emergency services vehicles.

Traveller Flora Lu claims she was told by airport staff her flight had been delayed after a crew member was run over.

Posting on Twitter, she wrote: ‘We don’t really know what happened. Cabin crew informed us that we have ran over a person while being taxied to the runway.

‘According to them this person was trapped under the wheel. At the moment we are still onboard waiting for further information.’

It is thought up to around 200 passengers are stuck on the Rossiya Airlines aircraft, which has been stuck on the tarmac at the airport for the past two hours. It is not known why passengers have not been released.

A spokesman for Gatwick Airport and Rossiya Airlines has been contacted for comment.
