A professional cleaner has offered the ultimate end-of-lease cleaning guide to ensure tenants get their bond back after moving out of a rental home.
Kaycie, from Melbourne, shared a TikTok video showing the five areas many renters often forget to clean in the lead up to the final inspection – including window tracks, ceiling fans and the edges around the shower.
‘Moving out of a rental? Here are the top five things that property managers have hawk eyes for that you can complete before move out day,’ she said.
‘It’s drilled into our brains to not miss these things.’

She urged renters to deep clean the window tracks to remove the dirt and build-up.
‘Property managers are obsessed with window tracks,’ Kaycie said.
‘The best way to clean window tracks is to vacuum the excess out (using a small attachment), then place a cloth over the end of a toothbrush to clean.’
She said you need to pay attention to the edges around the shower screen as there’s usually hidden soap scum, mould or rust stains.
The oven needs to be thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
‘Use a toothbrush to get into the corners of the oven,’ Kaycie said.
She said ‘greasy’ cook top knobs are often neglected during the cleanup.
If they come off, soak the knobs in soap water and wipe the surface clean.
Other places to clean include the exhaust fans and ceiling fans.

Her video has since been viewed more than 840,000 times, with many saying her cleaning tips will come in handy for their next end-of-lease.
Many shared their own horror stories after struggling to get their bonds back.
‘The window track is real. We got a professional in to do our and the landlord complained there was a single dead fly in the garage window frame,’ one wrote.
While another added: ‘Yes the window tracks got me when I moved out. I didn’t know it could be cleaned.’
Some professional cleaners agreed with Kaycie’s checklist, with one saying: ‘I was a cleaner for five years – property managers literally pick on all those things.’
