QPR in talks to re-sign striker Charlie Austin as Mark Warburton targets experienced forward to help in Championship relegation battle

  • Queens Park Rangers are in talks to re-sign striker Charlie Austin this month
  • Austin, 31, remains a fan favourite at Loftus Road where he scored 45 goals
  • West Brom are looking to add a striker and could allow Austin to leave the club

West Brom striker Charlie Austin is in talks over a return to Queens Park Rangers.

The 31-year old remains a big favourite at Loftus Road where he scored 45 goals in 75 starts.

Austin is struggling for game time at the Hawthorns with Sam Allardyce looking to add another striker on loan.

QPR boss Mark Warburton wanted an experienced forward on loan to lift his out of sorts squad and had been discussing a deal for Brighton’s 37-year old Glenn Murray who is on loan at Watford.

However, Warburton has now turned to Austin and talks between player and club are advancing.

Albion completed Sam Allardyce’s first signing with the capture of West Ham’s Robert Snodgrass on Friday on an 18 month contract and will add a second signing in the shape of goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.

The 37-year-old, who had been on a short term contract at Stoke City, has been signed as cover with Jonathan Bond discussing a move to Major League Soccer with LA Galaxy.
