A real estate broker who was arrested Tuesday in connection to a crash in New York that sent a mother and her young son to the hospital, has posted $60,000 bail.
Robert K. Futterman, 60, collided with a 2008 Nissan Altima being driven by 31-year-old Erica Bermeo Palacios as she entered the Montauk Highway on Tuesday.
Palacios’ Altima sustained severe damage to its driver’s side and the Bridgehampton Fire Department had to use heavy rescue tools to rescue the woman when they arrived at around 11.25am.
The mother and her three-year-old son were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.
‘Their injuries were determined to be minor,’ police said in a press release on Tuesday evening.
A nonstop smiling Futterman posted bail on Wednesday. He was seen in a video leaving a courthouse and standing next to his lawyer with a big grin on his face.
‘First and foremost we want to say that we’re very pleased that no one was seriously hurt in this accident,’ his lawyer, Eddie Burke Jr, tells reporters.
Burke continues to say that they have no further comment and that Futterman is due back in court on July 29.
As Futterman walks over to a black SUV, a reporter is heard asking him if he ran into Palacios and her child.
Futterman responds: ‘They hit me. Luckily my airbag went off and I’m safe.’

His lawyer is heard in the video trying to get his attention, but Futterman keeps talking to the reporters, saying ‘I believe they’re fine’ when asked about the mother and son’s condition.
Futterman has been charged with a felony count of driving under the influence of drugs due to prior conviction along with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Just a few hours prior at 8.45am on Tuesday, Futterman was pulled over in Amagansett and issued four traffic violations.
Shortly after 11am, Futterman collided with Palacios’ vehicle. The front end of Futterman’s Ford pickup was completely smashed in.
When police arrived to the scene, they conducted a sobriety test. Meanwhile, a bystander recorded Futterman (pictured center with the officer) attempting to walk the white line

He then turns around and walks down the white line again, and continues to step off of it
His 2019 Ford F-150 pickup truck was impounded, police told the East Hampton Star. Palacios’ Altima was also impounded.
When police arrived to the scene, they conducted a sobriety test.

The crash comes just a week after Futterman was released on bail for a July 16 arrest in Sag Harbor Village where he was charged with operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
In the mooring field by Marine Park at approximately 1.40pm, a 2019 Tiara boat that the man was on struck the anchor chain of the motor yacht Crili.
Futterman performed poorly on his field sobriety test and paid $1,000 to be bailed out.
In August 21, 2011, Futterman was arrested for driving while drunk on the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike with his four children. All were under the age of 16 at the time.

Futterman was recently let go from his chairman and CEO role at Newmark RFK and news reports in May said that he had been fired ‘for cause’ due to erratic behavior following a marijuana arrest in April in Texas
He was charged under Leandra’s Law at the time, which meant he was given a felony.
In February 2012, Futterman pleaded guilty in Suffolk County Criminal Court to aggravated felony DWI and a count while ability impaired by drugs. He had been taking prescription Ambien at the time.
For the charge, Futterman was given 1,000 hours of community service along with alcohol and narcotics counseling.

Futterman denied the allegation and was out on a $1,500 bail for the case, according to the New York Post.
At the end of May, he was charged twice with driving without an Interlock device.
The device requires drivers to blow into it to detect if their is alcohol, which will then determine if the car will start.
Futterman was charged with a slew of traffic violations and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana for the two May arrests, which occurred on the 26th and 27th.
