Sam Cochrane in hot water with Sophie Monk’s father

He won himself the coveted double delight rose in the first episode of The Bachelorette.

But despite the date advantage, Sam Cochrane, 33, has not impressed Sophie Monk’s father Andrew after making dodgy comments about his views on finding love.

On Wednesday’s episode the 37-year-old set up a group date but sneakily involving her family; her parents as drivers and sister Lucy, as an art analyst to get their opinion on the men.

‘You’re dead boy!’ Sam Cochrane, 33, has not impressed Sophie Monk’s father Andrew after making vile comments about his views on finding love

Her father Andrew was behind the wheel with one half of the group, including man bun aficionado Sam.

During a candid conversation the voice over artist shared his thoughts on love, unwittingly aware Mr Monk was present for their indecent conversation.

‘You can’t be in love in one second. You can be in lust, though. Oh, I’ve been in lust from one second,’ he told the other men.

Sam's comments did not sit well with Mr Monk who tried his best to stay in character. 'That was getting a bit close to the point, I thought. I was concerned a little bit,' he said.

Ryan asked him: ‘Do you know the difference between love and lust?’

‘Yeah. Lust is you wanna bang ’em and love is you wanna look after them,’ the Bondi-based singleton said.

He added: ‘When I meet someone, I want it just to be like a volcano of explosions. Like, not in that sense. Not in a rude sense. But I do want it in a rude sense, but not straightaway.’

He was right to be worried, with Sophie’s dad telling the group that Sam’s comments had him thinking, ‘You’re dead boy’.

Summing up the disaster, Sam admitted: ‘I’m screwed’.

Later that evening, Sam had the chance to have a chat with Sophie about going on dates, however she took control of the conversation calling him out over his ‘cans’ comment in the last group challenge.

‘You started talking about my cans on the photoshoot. Remember that? You’re meant to be winning my affection and you’re going, “Look at her cans,”‘ she recalled.

Feeling guilty, he apologised for his bad behaviour but Sophie quipped: ‘It made me feel a bit like you don’t really like me. And it’s just like that’s you treat all women. That’s all I’d say.’

While their chat left him red-faced and apologetic, Sam still received a rose from the beauty and was safe from elimination.
