Kevin Spacey has faced questions from Scotland Yard detectives in the US in the wake of sex assault allegations in Britain.

The House of Cards actor, 59, was interviewed under caution by officers.

Spacey, who was the artistic director at London’s The Old Vic theatre between 2004 and 2015,  is facing six allegations of sexual assault.

Facing questions: Spacey has been quizzed by Scotland Yard detectives over sexual assault claims made against him

It is claimed the offences were carried out between 1996 and 2013.

The Hollywood star was voluntarily interviewed under caution in May but he was not arrested following the allegations.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman, who did not name the individual who was questioned, said: ‘In May 2019, a man was voluntarily interviewed under caution in America, by officers from the Met’s Complex Case Team.

‘He was not arrested. Inquiries are ongoing.’

But the US website Variety carried a report that he was the person questioned by officers.

His lawyers were approached for comment.

Allegations first surfaced against the star following the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Anthony Rapp claimed Spacey, then 26, made a sexual advance towards him when he was just 14 in 1986.

Spacey apologised for any ‘inappropriate drunken behaviour’ but said he had no memory of the alleged encounter.

But the allegations led him to be  sacked by Netflix’s House Of Cards and also saw Sir Ridley Scott erase him from the movie All The Money In The World, although it costs millions in re-shoots.

A total of 20 people claimed to The Old Vic theatre they had been subjected to inappropriate behaviour from the actor.

But a US-based young man who claimed Spacey groped him in a Nantucket bar in 2016 has now dropped his lawsuit against the actor.

Although, he still faces a criminal charge in the US and pleaded not guilty to indecent assault and battery in January.
