Shopper documents his experience at the store in a hilarious video

What we’re ALL thinking when we shop at Aldi: Man documents his experience in a hilarious video – from buying random sale items to VERY speedy checkout staff

  • Australian DJ and comic Matthew Hey, 25, runs the Alright Hey YouTube channel
  • He shared a video on January 4 documenting his experience at an Aldi store
  • It involved a confrontation with another customer in the ‘middle aisle’ section
  • As well as purchasing plenty of things he didn’t actually come to buy

A comedian has shared a hilarious video documenting his trip to an Aldi store to share the thoughts everyone has while walking around the discount grocer.

Matthew Hey, from Sydney, visited the supermarket with the intention of picking up some milk but instead encountered issues with fellow customers in the ‘middle aisles’, forgot his recyclable bags and couldn’t keep up with the checkout staff.

The 25-year-old filmed the experience for radio station Nova, starting the clip by saying he was only going in for one staple before loading his trolley with breakfast cereals, chicken kiev and a nail gun.

Matthew started the video by saying he had forgotten his recyclable bags in the car so had to use a box he found to carry his gear (pictured)

‘I’ve left my bags in the car again,’ Matthew said as he went to purchase a bag of spinach – not milk – on arrival.

Aldi stores require customers to bring in their own recyclable bags to pack their products into the car, and don’t supply them.

He continues by walking down the centre aisles, which contain the Special Buys, and picks up two heated towel rails, a sleeping bag and ski gear.

‘A sleeping bag for a baby? I don’t know any babies going camping… oh it’s $19 I might as well get that,’ he said.

Matthew proceeds to try on a range of ski items, including a helmet, thermals and boots, parading down the store in them.

While he does so another customer accidentally picks up his own jacket and puts it on her trolley, before he notices and takes it back.

Once he has an entire cart worth of groceries, clothes and homewares Matthew wonders over to the checkout, forgetting just how fast the workers are at scanning items.

‘Oh god, sorry. I wasn’t ready for this. Sorry. Excuse me,’ he muttered.

At the end of the video Matthew begins to mock cry and say that the savings he has made there have ‘changed his life’.

Thousands of Australians have congratulated the comic on his hilarious portrayal, suggesting this is exactly the kind of behaviour they see in Aldi.

‘Oh no this is me with the annual ski sale,’ one woman said.

Another added: ‘If you don’t buy the entire middle aisle than why bother shopping there?’
