This is the touching moment a soldier surprises his young son at school as he returns home from duty for Christmas.

Damo Archer, couldn’t wait for his young son Nico to finish school before letting him know that he had finally made it home from a seven-month stint away.

With the help of teachers at Harrow Gate Primary Academy in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, the father appears at the door of the year 2 class.

Shocked Nico can’t believe his eyes as his teacher announces ‘He’s come back for Christmas Nico, just for you!’

The little boy can be seen leaping into his father’s arms for a well needed hug while his classmates applaud.

Nico’s mother Laura said the little one had no idea of her husband’s plans to return home early in time for Christmas.

Damo had been away on duty since June and was not due to return until February.
