Terrifying moment swerving Audi smashes into the back of another car before the driver flees the scene in the wrecked vehicle

  • The dangerous incident happened in Coventry near junction one of the ring road
  • The car that failed to stop was later found abandoned and is being examined
  • West Midland Police said no injuries were reported and enquiries are ongoing

Dramatic dash cam footage shows a reckless Audi driver smash into the back of another motorist before leaving the scene in the damaged vehicle. 

In the video the powerful Audi swerves between two cars but is going too fast to avoid a collision with the vehicle recording with its dash cam. 

The rear-facing camera is blacked out for a fraction of a second by the force of the impact before capturing the Audi with its front smashed leaving the scene. 

The clip was captured yesterday morning in Coventry and was shared on social media. 

The post said: ‘Happened 9.05am this morning. Rear dash cam footage. Does anyone know of the driver of a Black A3 Audi.’

The video shows a car pull into the right hand lane of the ring road, with the Audi speeding up behind it. 

As the Audi gets closer, it quickly swerves into the left hand lane and collides with the car filming on its dash cam.

The car then pulls into the central reservation of the busy road, however the Audi quickly makes its escape.

The clip has been met with anger from locals. 

One user on social media said: ‘To drive off!! Hope you’re okay and they are caught!’

Another added: ‘I reckon he got to work with a minute to spare.’  

Someone else commented: ‘Couldn’t have gone far with that damage.’ 

A spokesperson for West Midland Police today said: ‘The car that failed to stop was later found abandoned and is being forensically examined. 

‘No injuries were reported and enquiries are on-going.’
