Texas teen dances in rain during Hurricane Harvey

One Texas teenager is bringing a bit of levity to the internet in the midst of Hurricane Harvey’s destruction.

Deandre Wilson of Austin was clearly not in any immediate danger as he took to the streets in the downpour on Sunday afternoon, while the deadly storm ravaged other parts of the state.

But while most people in the storm’s path stayed snugly inside while the rain poured down this weekend, Deandre decided it was the perfect occasion for a rain dance.

Though there appeared to be minimal flooding on Deandre’s street, all of the other residents stayed in their homes during the teen’s routine.

Deandre, a high school student, may have been bored while stuck inside all weekend, and took the opportunity to go outside for a bit of fun.

While music blared, he walked out in the rain, wearing only a pair of low-hanging red sweatpants and sneakers.

A friend nearby captured the whole thing on video, showing Deandre twisting, during, and dancing to the music — which cannot be heard that well due to the raging winds.

At one point, he even used the puddles in his routine, splashing them with his hands for emphasis — not entirely dissimilar to Beyoncé’s routine to Freedom on her recent Formation tour.

Though other areas of the state were evacuated and residents were advised not to venture out into flooded areas, the teen seems to have been safe.

He also inspired some copycats. After he posted the clip on Twitter and began to garner attention, several other young men posted their own rain dances.

One, named Colton Hughes, ventured out into a slightly more flooded street to dance, while a third named Kevyn also made use of puddles for splashing during his moves.

And they’re not the only ones to find fun in the storm.

In Houston, a woman named Viviana Saldana took video of family members goofing around inside their incredibly flooded home.

Despite the terrible damage, the group seems to have found something to be happy about, as they splash around in the water.

As it turns out, a fish has swum into their house, and Viviana’s dad repeatedly dives, trying to catch it — and eventually is successful.
