The Chase Australia’s Larry Emdur has jokingly challenged his game show host rival Eddie McGuire to a cage fight.

Veteran presenter Eddie announced earlier this month his long-running game show Millionaire Hot Seat will not be returning next year after 14 years.

The shock news sparked speculation Larry and Eddie are feuding, with one magazine splashing a photo of the two presenters on its front page, along with the headline: ‘Game Show Wars explode!’

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Larry made fun of the cover, which also featured stories about Princess Anne and the Duchess of Cambridge.

He also jokingly confirmed the feud between him and Eddie, explaining it all kicked off 30 years ago when they went out for a drink together, but he decided to do a runner on Eddie.

Sharing a snap of the magazine, Larry wrote: ‘Look!! Four princesses on the cover!

‘This “WAR” s**t has been brewing for a long long time. It started 30 years ago when Eddie and I were drinking heavily at The Saloon bar in Melbourne, it was my shout and I did a runner so this was always going to “explode” one day.

‘There’s only one way to end this, I challenge Eddie to a cage fight, but more importantly huge congrats to Princess Anne on your first holiday in 17 years.’
