The Handmaid’s Tale star Yvonne Strahovski to attend the Emmy Awards despite being heavily pregnant

During her pregnancy, Yvonne Strahovski has hiked through the Grand Canyon, slept in the back of her SUV and starred in five episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale.

And despite being due to give birth any day now, the Australian actress, 36, still plans to attend the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles next week.

‘I am nervous and excited and all of the above,’ she told The Sun Herald of her attendance.

‘I’m planning on being there!’ The Handmaid’s Tale star Yvonne Strahovski, 36, says she will attend the Emmy Awards despite being due to give birth

‘Mainly excited to be able to share the day with my husband and my parents, who will be in the country, but probably more nervous about going to the Emmys nine-and-a-half months pregnant,’ she gushed.

The actress also admitted that she slept through her Emmy nomination announcement back in July.

‘My husband woke me up and showed me his phone where he had pulled up the list of nominees in my category,’ she enthused, adding: ‘if i wasn’t pregnant I would have had a celebratory glass of vino’.

Yvonne has been nominated in the category of best supporting actress in a drama, alongside the likes of fellow Handmaid’s Tale stars Alexis Blede and Ann Dowd.

Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) and Thandie Newton (Westworld) are also set to compete for the gong.

If she does grace the red carpet next week, Yvonne will be joined by her actor husband Tim Loden.

In May this year, Yvonne announced she and Tim were expecting their first child together.

However, she admitted she was forced to hide her pregnancy while filming American dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale.

She spoke about her decision to finally reveal her news to the cast and crew during an appearance on Network Ten’s The Project.

‘It was quite interesting hiding the pregnancy actually, as my first trimester was [from] episode nine through to the end of The Handmaid’s Tale,’ she said.

‘That’s why it got tricky. In the end, I was over hiding it so I said, ‘You know what, I’m pregnant.’ People thought I had the flu. They were scared to come near me.’
