The Sugababes admit that ‘no one cracks the whip anymore’ in reformed band

The Sugababes admit that ‘no one cracks the whip anymore’ as the reformed band prepare for their massive one-night-only London gig… revealing they have been ‘blown away’ by fan reaction

They’re set to take over London’s 02 Arena next year for a one-night-only concert next year and have just finished a tour.

And the Sugababes admitted on Thursday that almost 25 years after forming the band and 11 years after geting back together, they are more chilled this time around, jesting that ‘no one cracks the whip anymore’.

The trio, which consists of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy, added that they have been ‘blown away’ by the support from fans – after their performance at Glastonbury this summer saw fans swarm.

Back again: The Sugababes hadve admitted that ‘no one cracks the whip anymore’ as the reformed band prepare for their massive one-night-only London gig

The band appeared on Friday morning’s Good Morning Britain, chatting with Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway on their reunion.

And touching on the group dynamics, the presenters asked who the boss of the group was, with Mutya confirming it wasn’t her as she admitted: ‘I’m too chilled out’.

‘No one cracks the whip anymore, it used to be me but now I have 2 kids so I do it in a mumsy way,’ explained Siobhán.

While Keisha added: ‘We are in control of what we’re doing, we’re older now. When you get older you can kinda appreciate what’s there more and handle the business side of it, we’re just having fun’.

The trio originally formed in 1998, but went through numerous line-up changes over the years with all three original members eventually being replaced.

Siobhan left in 2001 and was replaced by Heidi Range, Mutya left in 2005 and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah and Keisha was replaced by Jade Ewan when she departed in 2009.

The replacement members stopped making music in 2011.

But back as the Sugababes now; Mutya, Keisha and Siobhán took to Glastonbury’s Avalon stage earlier this year -blowing fans away as they perfromed classic such as Round Round.

And the performance was such a hit that festival security were forced to close off the field due to massive crowds gathering to watch.

Reminscing on the performance, they told Ben and Kate: ‘Before we went on, we were told that it would be like 3000 capacity and then when we got in they were like we need to shut down the field, theres too many people.

‘We couldn’t believe it, it was amazing,’ they explained.

And tickets for their upcoming one-night-only London gig went on sale this morning, Friday 2 December, with the pop band explaining that the 02 has ‘blown our minds’.
