An alleged thief was filmed brazenly stealing two packets of cigarettes from right in front of a service station attendant while carrying a designer bag worth more than $1000.

Video of the incident was shared to the Auburn 2144 Facebook page on Monday with hopes it would help track down the offender.

In the video the woman is seen carrying a Louis Vuitton designer handbag worth as much as $1800 as she asks the attendant for some cigarettes at a South Granville service station.

However after the attendant places two packets of cigarettes on the counter the young woman snatches them up and begins to leave the store.

Facebook group Servo Watch along with Auburn 2144 were somehow able to identify the alleged offender.

The service station attendant sent her a message through social media encouraging her to return and pay for the cigarettes or he would be forced to report her to police.

‘This young lady had the opportunity to go back and pay for the cigarettes but hasn’t bothered,’ the post read.

‘So everyone please be aware of this thief.

‘I gave her 24 hours to go back and pay for the cigarettes and she hasn’t bothered. When she inboxed me she made up lies,’ the store attendant followed up on Facebook.

‘I’ll save you more embarrassment and keep the screenshots to myself. She thought it was “funny”.

‘And from what many people have been saying – this isn’t the first time either.’
