A violent brawl that erupted at a football match has left two men with laceration wounds and a third trampled on after opposing spectators took to the field with weapons.
The NSW Police Riot Squad were called to a field on West Botany Street in Rockdale, in Sydney’s south, just after 5pm on Sunday after the match between Rockdale Ilinden and Sydney United 58 ended in a zero-all stalemate.
The two teams concluded their game in the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition when spectators began throwing crates and yelling expletives at each other from the car park.

In shocking footage that emerged online of the brawl, the football players can be seen throwing punches on the field as the enraged spectators continue to yell and heckle from the sidelines.
NSW Police reported that two men suffered lacerations during the fight and were taken to St George Hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.
A third man also suffered minor injuries after being trampled on in the stampede after the melee broke out.

After the match, Rockdale City Suns Football Club said they were aware of the incident.
‘The matter is the subject of a police investigation and as such we will not be commenting further pending completion of that investigation, suffice to say that the club strongly does not condone anti social and criminal behaviour,’ it wrote on Facebook.
A crime scene has been established at the field and police said they were continuing to try to identify the people involved.
Police are searching for a man described as being of Caucasian appearance and stocky build who last seen wearing a black jumper, black shorts, black bucket hat and dark sunglasses to help with their investigation.
