Tottenham are ‘monitoring Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze’… as Ange Postecoglou ‘eyes a replacement for Bryan Gil after undergoing groin surgery’

  • Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze is reportedly on Tottenham’s shortlist
  • The playmaker has caught the eye of a host of big-name clubs in recent seasons
  • Spurs may be forced to splash the cash again after Bryan Gil’s groin surgery

Tottenham are monitoring Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, according to reports, and remain open to further strengthening Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Eze, 25, has caught the eye of a number of big-name clubs during his three-year spell at Selhurst Park and is once again believed to be in demand this summer.

The playmaker made his international breakthrough for England at the end of last season and could be in line for another milestone in his career with Spurs interested.

Football.London have claimed the club are keeping a watchful eye on his situation and highlight that Eze is a CAA Base client, an agency they have often dealt with.

Spurs may well be forced to splash out on another midfielder regardless due to Bryan Gil’s injury, with the winger out of action after undergoing groin surgery.

No timeframe has been provided by Tottenham on a potential return but various reports have suggested he could miss the first two months of the season.

At least on paper, Eze, who has reportedly been courted by Spurs in the past, would represent a shrewd addition – although his exact price tag is not yet known.

Eze has made 93 appearances to date for Palace, scoring 15 goals and registering 11 assists, and drew plaudits for his rich vein of form under Roy Hodgson last year.

He remains under contract until 2025, meaning Palace are under no immediate pressure to sell, and Eze himself has refused to be drawn into the speculation.

‘I’m not really too bothered about that,’ Eze said of transfer links at the back end of last campaign. ‘I’m just focusing on the present.

‘I want to continue enjoying it and contributing to the team as much as I can. I’m improving every game.’

So far this summer, Spurs have completed the permanent signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro from Juventus and Sporting Lisbon respectively.

They have also splashed out on James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon, Ashley Phillips, Micky van de Ven and Alejo Veliz.
