Two Iranian politicians’ sex tapes are leaked to expose hypocrisy

Two Iranian politicians’ sex tapes are leaked to expose hypocrisy of male lawmakers who preach morality under strict Islamic law that issues death sentences to women for adultery

  • Ali Mohammad Ahmadi – former governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad – caught on camera having sexual relations with a woman who wasn’t his wife
  • Another clip shows Abbas Malekzadeh, Mayor of Sadra, caressing a nude woman
  • Sex outside of marriage is illegal under Iranian law and can carry death penalty

Two Iranian politicians’ sex tapes have been leaked on social media by activists trying to highlight the hypocrisy of officials who preach morality under strict Islamic law.

The first video was posted online on August 4 and is said to have captured Ali Mohammad Ahmadi – the former governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad – having sexual relations with a woman.

A second was leaked on August 9, and showed a naked Abbas Malekzadeh, the mayor of Sadra, caressing a nude woman, according to FRANCE 24 Observers.

The video, thought to have been filmed by Malekzadeh, was shared four days after the politician was arrested for corruption, along with three other people from the city council.

Adultery and sex outside of marriage are illegal under Iranian law and can carry the death penalty.

Well-placed sources allegedly told local media outlets, that Ahmadi had been set up by a foreign intelligence agency who tried to get him to travel to Canada and take part in a TV show critical of the Iranian government.

They claimed the four-minute video, believed to be filmed with a hidden camera, was then shared because of Ahmadi’s refusal.

A close associate of Ahmadi’s swore that the woman in the video was his ‘legitimate wife under Islamic law’.

However critics said the woman, who featured in a second, eight-minute, video posted online on August 6, was definitely not his wife. It was later reported that she works for an Iranian airline.

Ahmadi has been described as a reformist and centrist and has close ties to the government of President Hassan Rouhani.

He recently resigned from his position as governor to start campaigning for the February 2020 legislative elections.

An Iranian journalist, who did not wish to reveal her real name, spoke to the publication about the country’s reaction to the sex tapes.

‘People see these videos as just more proof of government officials’ hypocrisy. These men have the right to have sexual relations, of course… but the men in question are officials of the Islamic Republic, a country with a morality police that arrests people for dating out of wedlock.

‘About a decade ago, a sex tape featuring an actress on a popular TV series was leaked. It ruined her life. She was arrested, then eventually left Iran and moved to France.

‘Because the men in the videos are politicians, they likely won’t face any legal repercussions for their actions. This hypocrisy is what makes people so angry, not their sex lives.’

The journalist referred to Zahra Amir Ebrahimi, who made a 20-minute sex tape privately with her boyfriend and had it posted on the internet in 2006 and released as a DVD, to the anger of millions in Iran.

The sex tapes released featuring politicians are the first time this has happened since the Islamic Republic of Iran was founded back in 1979.

But it isn’t the first scandal to hit officials, as in 2007, Reza Zarei, the chief of police in Tehran, was arrested in a brothel with six women.

He spent four months in prison before being given an early retirement.
