Nearly 86,000 pounds of sliced ham has been recalled in eight states, health officials announced.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), an arm of the USDA, said Wednesday that New Jersey-based ConSup North America Inc is recalling its ready-to-eat Stockmeyer sliced proscuitto, which was produced in Germany.
The affected products were shipped to retail stores in California , Connecticut , Florida , Illinois, Pennsylvania , Texas , Virginia , and Washington.
The products were made from September 25, 2023, through March 6, 2024.
Meat, poultry, and egg products made in other countries and imported into the US must meet all American safety standards, which the USDA calls ‘equivalence.’
Germany’s Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety notified FSIS that the German company H Klümper GmbH & Co KG produced ‘a portion’ of the identified products without inspecting them based on US standards.
The products impacted are: 5.29-oz. plastic packages containing ‘Stockmeyer PROSCIUTTO Product of GERMANY’ with lot codes 09118-3A, 09118-3B, 09120-3A, 09120-3B, 13133-3A, 13133-3B, 13104-3A, 13104-3B, 13105-3A, 13105-3B, 13109-3A and 13109-3B and ‘BEST BEFORE:’ dates of 4/28/2024, 5/26/2024, 7/7/2024, 8/4/2024, 8/11/2024 and 10/7/2024.
FSIS said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from these products, but ‘anyone concerned should contact a healthcare provider.’
The agency urged consumers to throw out any affected products or return them to the place of purchase.
