If you hate hoovering, then the launch of the new Vactidy Blitz V8 Cordless Stick Vacuum is worth sitting up for.

Promising hassle-free hoovering, the cordless stick vacuum has already impressed US shoppers with its no-frills-no-fuss design, so much so that one user hailed it ‘the lazy person’s vacuum’.

How we tested:

We used the Vactidy Blitz V8 Cordless Stick Vacuum over carpets and various hard floors, including floorboards, laminate and tiles. We also converted the stick vacuum into a portable handheld vacuum to test its performance on stairs, the sofa, the bed and upholstery.

The Vactidy Blitz V8 Cordless Stick Vacuum has a 2-in-1 turbine electric floor brush with stiff and soft bristles to work on carpets and hard floors.

It boasts two LED headlights to illuminate the dust and debris in your path while the four stage HEPA filtration system seals and captures tiny dust particles and produces fresher, cleaner air for your home.

The stick vacuum can also be easily transformed into a handheld vacuum to finish off stairs and hard-to-reach corners.

Design

Freeing the Vactidy Blitz V8 Cordless Stick Vacuum from the box and the first thing of note was the weight. Almost unnervingly light, the full vacuum with nozzle and wand weighs just five pounds. Used with the detachable hand vacuum, the weight is less than three pounds.

Despite the being almost featherlight, the information provided by the brand promised that it would still be powerful with a 20Kpa powerful suction in MAX mode, claiming it could easily suck up debris, crumbs and hairs.

The assembly of the vacuum was straightforward; all you had to do was insert the removable battery pack while the telescopic tube slid into position seamlessly.

Features

As a cordless stick vacuum, the design of the Vactidy Blitz V8 ticks boxes for convenience and manoeuvrability. Smaller and lighter than upright or cylindrical vacuums, the Vactidy frees you from wires, generally making it easier to move around the house with.

That being said, it might not give you the power that a main vacuum has, offering just 12kPa on standard mode.

The flexible swivel head can move 180 degrees sideways and 90 degrees up and down, enabling you to get into corners. It also features two LED headlights to illuminate and eliminate dust and debris.

While it might look small, the vacuum actually boasts a large dustbin of 1.2 litres. It has an ergonomic handle and multi-functional accessories, including a round brush, long crevice and telescopic tube. It is easily converts from a stick vacuum into a portable handheld vacuum too.

Performance

Wire-free and with an incredibly light 5 lbs design, the Vactidy Blitz V8 Cordless Stick Vacuum really does aim to make hoovering as fuss-free as possible.

While tech buffs might find the simplistic design lacking in features, unenthusiastic cleaners will appreciate the simple design that gets the job done.

We were surprised by how seamlessly it manoeuvred from rugs to hardwood flooring. While it proved particularly powerful on hard floors, it struggled to removed embedded hair from the carpet but still fared respectably.

On standard mode, it provided around 30 continuous running time – no mean-feat for a cordless upright vacuum, while the boost mode wowed us with its excellent pick-up on all surfaces.

Mail Best Verdict

Slim and lightweight, this is a nifty hoover and a good option for those that struggle with traditionally heavy vacuums.

The Vactidy Blitz V8 Cordless Stick Vacuum glides effortlessly across every surface and demonstrates strong pick-up skills on hard floors, only missing out on top marks on carpet and piled rugs.

While not the most technically impressive as some pet models or those with anti-hair wrap technology, for £116, it’s a smart choice if you don’t have pets or are on a budget.

It also gets bonus points for the detachable battery pack that can be recharged at the plug socket rather than the whole hoover out on charge.

Pros: Lightweight design, nimble to use, excellent suction, LED headlight, quiet,

Cons: No flexible wand, no anti-hair wrap technology, limited run-time, could be more powerful
