Virgin Mobile is DOWN for thousands of UK customers as users complain of being unable to get online or make calls

  • Networks across UK have been experiencing problems since about 11.30am BST 
  • London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Liverpool and Nottingham are badly hit 
  • The company says it is working to resolve the issue and has apologised to users

Virgin Mobile is down for thousands of customers in the UK. 

The firm says it is working to resolve the issue which has left many without the ability to make calls, send text messages and use mobile data. 

Users of the mobile network voiced their frustrations over the problem which has seen thousands of reported cases in the last few hours.

While the fault has affected the entire country, London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham and Nottingham were particularly bad hit.

Virgin Mobile has apologised for the issue online and says it is working on a fix to resolve the problem.

A Virgin Mobile spokesperson said: ‘We’re working quickly to resolve an issue that’s affecting some of our customers making calls, sending text messages and using mobile data. 

‘We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused.’ 

Thousands of people took to social media to complain about the outage, with many focusing on a complete lack of service. 

The current breakdown of complaints focuses on mobile phone use (66 per cent), mobile internet (30 per cent) and cable internet (three per cent). 

The network breakdown appears to be affecting customers in different ways. 

Many users complained that the issue meant they could receive texts and calls but could not make them and could not access the internet through mobile data. 

Others complained about being unable to make calls but still having the ability to receive them.  

One Twitter user, known as @NikkiChinnery, said the provider went down ‘in the middle of a very profitable cryptocurrency trade’. 

Another pointed out that this is the latest in an ongoing series of issues for Virgin, focusing on the lack of broadband today.
