Sixteen armed men and women allegedly gatecrashed a house party before destroying furniture and striking a woman across the head with a glass bottle.

Around 25 people were having a party at a unit at The Crescent in Wentworth Point, western Sydney, on Sunday.

Their celebrations were interrupted when the uninvited guests turned up wearing face masks and holding weapons.

Police have released footage (above) of people they believe may be able to help with their investigation after a gang of 16 people violently gatecrashed a house party

The group allegedly damaged the property before striking an 18-year-old partygoer across the head with a bottle.

Most of the people are seen wearing black outfits, dressed in jackets and sweatpants.

Several are wearing balaclavas over their faces while others have hoodies covering their heads. A number of them are also wearing blue gloves.

Officers set up a crime scene following the incident and they have opened an investigation.
