Last season Onana made 41 appearances for Lille and he is seen by West Ham manager David Moyes as a player with a very bright future.

So far in this transfer window West Ham have signed defender Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, while goalkeeper Alphonse Areola made his switch from Paris Saint-Germain permanent.

West Ham were also considering a move for Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma but Moyes elected not to pursue that deal.
