Arsenal 0-2 Manchester United: Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils claim an early advantage against a Premier League rival as Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes goals seal friendly victory in New Jersey

  • Bruno Fernandes’ superb goal to inspire Man United to a 2-0 win vs Arsenal
  • Jadon Sancho followed soon after with a precision effort to double the lead
  • Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber both made their first starts for the Gunners

Manchester United’s new captain Bruno Fernandes inspired his side to a 2-0 win against Arsenal during Saturday night’s pre-season friendly at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The Portuguese midfielder lead by example during the match and provided the spark the Red Devils needed hitting a low effort from outside the penalty area that bobbled over Aaron Ramsdale and into the roof of the net.

Erik ten Hag’s side would hit back just seven minutes later, with Jadon Sancho capitalising on a mistake at the back, driving towards the Arsenal goal before hitting a superbly taken shot from a tight angle into the back of the net.

Both managers fielded strong starting elevens for the match, with Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber both making their first starts for the Gunners.

Kai Havertz also featured, but couldn’t add to his goal tally which was opened in the week during Arsenal’s 5-0 win against the MLS All Stars.
