An osteopath has shared a simple trick for relieving chronic foot pain in seconds – and all you need is a tiny hand towel.

Brendon Talbot, a Canadian health practitioner who specializes in bone and muscle tissue, says you can almost instantly reduce tightness in your heel by gently massaging the foot and resting your toes on a rolled up towel.

In a now-viral TikTok video, he sits down and presses the ball of his foot into a towel while slowly lifting his heel off the floor.

Mr Talbot then wraps the towel under his toes and uses it to pull his foot towards him while keeping his heel firmly planted on the floor, stretching and strengthening muscle tissue to alleviate pain.

The medical expert explains that this pain is caused by plantar fasciitis, a condition that causes pain on the bottom of the heel when the band of tissue that supports the arch of your foot becomes irritated and inflamed.

It is most commonly caused by repetitive strain injury to the ligament of the sole of the foot, which occurs over time from excessive running or walking, and wearing the wrong size of shoe.

His tip, which has gone viral, racking up 871,300 views since it was uploaded online on October 1, sparked hundreds of grateful responses.

‘It’s like you’re reading my mind, I have this right now and it’s so painful!’ one person wrote.

A second added: ‘I suffered from this for years. Pure hell. Orthotics, the right shoes, and stretches like these finally saved me.’

It’s not the first time Mr Talbot’s advice has swept the internet.

Last month, his two simple tricks for relieving back and hip pain in seconds sent TikTok into meltdown.

Mr Talbot says you can instantly reduce tightness by sitting on the floor with your legs stretched straight in front of you, then opening and closing them while keeping them raised a few centimetres off the ground.

In a viral video, the osteopath also recommends lying on the floor with your legs pressed up against a wall, then bending them in before gently opening them as far as you can.

According to Mr Talbot, the stretches not only reduce pain, but also improve balance and strength across a wide range of activities including running, walking, squatting, and weight-lifting.

He warned that pelvic pain and stiffness can be aggravated by long hours sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Mr Talbot’s simple tips, which have racked up 1 million views since they were uploaded on July 22, sparked dozens of responses from viewers who claim he has changed their lives.

‘Thank you for making this video, I need this! I have already added so many of your suggestions and they help me so much,’ one woman wrote.

Another added: ‘Oh my gosh I NEEDED these, can’t thank you enough!’
