Ross’ widow Alexandra Leigh Ross said their heartbroken young daughter still asks when she will see her father again.

‘Our three-year-old daughter wants to know if her daddy is coming back. She wants to know when he is coming home,’ Mrs Ross told media on Monday.

‘Why did he leave and ”will he stay dead forever mummy?” Those are the questions I suffer through daily.’

Mrs Ross said her late husband had become the ‘best version of himself’ before his death.

‘The shock and trauma of his absence will follow my daughters and I everyday for the rest of our lives,’ she said during the press conference.

‘It’s hard to fathom how anybody could justify taking his life in such a horrific way, and give no thought to the devastating impact that this will continue to have on our family.

‘He’s been robbed of the opportunity to watch our daughters grow. They no longer have the privilege of their dad tucking them in at night and wishing them sweet dreams.’

Detectives released CCTV footage showing the SUV that was in the area on the night Martin was killed.

Gold Coast Police Detective Acting Superintendent Brendan Smith said police are trying to track down the car, which was seen doing a U-turn on Tallebudgera Creek Road at 8.18pm.

The car was heading toward Burleigh, before doing a U-turn pulling up outside Martin Shields Park, a short distance from where Mr Ross was murdered and about a kilometre from where Mr Martin died.

Det Supt Smith said it has been a ‘painstaking and complex investigation’ in the five months since both men were killed, and confirmed police are setting up a reward for anyone with information.
