The 18-year-old Disney star delivered two show-stopping performances, including a live rendition of her breakthrough hit Drivers License.
Despite being born in 2003, Rodrigo heavily leaned into the patterns, silhouettes, and styles of the 1990s for her onstage looks.

Olivia’s debut on Saturday Night Live, alongside the night’s host Keegan-Michael Key, comes after she opened up to Billboard about receiving a kind handwritten letter from her idol Taylor Swift following the debut of Drivers License.
The track went on to reach the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, making the singer the youngest solo artist to ever debut at that position.
‘I don’t want to divulge too much because it’s really sweet and personal, but she talks a lot about how, I think, you make your own luck in the world,’ Olivia said.
‘And when you do kind things to others, good things come your way,’ Rodrigo told Billboard during her May cover story interview.

She added, ‘I don’t know, she put it so eloquently, and when I say it now… it’s not as cool.’
Olivia said that she has admired and looked up to Taylor since she was a kid. ‘She is absolutely the kindest individual in the whole world,’ the hitmaker told SiriusXM in March.
‘Actually, last night — like literally 12 hours ago — I got a package from her with this handwritten note,’ she continued.
Olivia was finally able to meet the superstar at the 2021 BRIT Awards, where the two posed for a picture backstage.
