Paul Pogba arrives in Italy to complete Juventus move

Paul Pogba has arrived back in Italy as he prepares to complete his return to Juventus.

The Serie A giants have released a video on their official Twitter account of the midfielder stepping off a plane ahead of his free transfer from Manchester United.

Pogba was smiling broadly as he touched down in Turin, and his medical is expected to take place on Saturday, before he signs his new deal with the Old Lady.

‘I am back, I’m here, I’m very, very happy. I can’t wait to get started and wear this Juventus jersey again,’ Pogba told the club’s Twitter account.

He was then driven out of the airport car park in a large white vehicle, with fans calling for him to step out of the car to greet them.

The Frenchman duly obliged, as he got out and waved at a host of fans, who all cheered and called his name, highlighting how he is a popular figure among the club’s fanbase.

His transfer appears to be edging ever nearer, and follows him dropping another huge hint that he will be re-joining Juventus in the next 24 hours as he told fans in Italian ‘see you soon’ on social media while aboard a private jet on Friday.

This followed reports earlier this week that claimed the Italian club have reached an agreement to bring Pogba back to the Allianz Stadium.

Should Pogba complete his move to Juventus, it will be the second time in his career he has left Manchester United for the Serie A side for nothing.

After leaving Old Trafford as a teenager, Pogba enjoyed four trophy-laden seasons at Juventus before completing a return to United for a then-world record fee of £89million back in 2016.

Now, having worked out with former Juventus star Paulo Dybala in the United States this week, Pogba was filmed gleefully rubbing his hands together during his flight back to Turin, saying ‘it’s time’ on Instagram.

In the same video of himself on the private jet, Pogba used the hashtag ‘PogAlmostBack’ – a reference to the ‘PogBack’ phrase United used when they themselves re-signed him six years ago.

Wearing black and white – Juventus’ colours – Pogba says to the camera: ‘It’s time…it’s time. Yes sir. Ci vediamo presto’ – which translates in Italian to ‘see you soon’.

He also briefly showed fans a glimpse of his flight path from Miami to presumably Turin.

The 2018 World Cup winner is said to have agreed a four-year contract with the Serie A giants ahead of much-anticipated return to Italy.

It comes after his six seasons at Old Trafford were marred by injuries and inconsistency, leading fans and pundits to question his effort and determination.

The 91-cap international scored 39 goals in 226 appearances in all competitions, but only once reached double figures in league goals – 13 in 2018-19, a total he reached twice in his last two seasons at Juventus.

During that period he did, however, impress for France, helping Didier Deschamps’ France win the 2018 World Cup with several superb performances, but he often failed to translate that form to his club side.

Pogba won just a Europa League and League Cup title across his time at the club and will doubtless be looking to continue lifting silverware at the same rate he did before at Juventus.

The 29-year-old won four Scudetti in four years and also won two Coppa Italias and two Italian Super Cups during his previous stint with The Old Lady.

Ahead of his second exit, Pogba has also irked United supporters for perhaps the final time after clips of his new documentary were released earlier this month.

One section of the documentary shows Pogba and his late agent discussing a £300,000-a-week contract offer from the Red Devils, which he branded ‘nothing’.

‘How can you tell a player you absolutely want him and offer him nothing?’ he said. ‘Never seen that.’

United fans were left seething with the footage, labelling Pogba a ‘greedy egomaniac’ and welcoming his departure at the end of the month even further.

Sportsmail previously revealed Pogba cost United almost £1m per game during his six years back at Old Trafford and will pocket a £3.78m loyalty bonus when he moves on again.
