Teddi Mellencamp appeared on social Wednesday to give her followers an update as she battles skin cancer.
The 42-year-old former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills personality uploaded several photos documenting the aftermath of what she called ‘the biggest surgery in her Melanoma journey.’
Engaging her one million fans, she wrote, ‘Surgery went well! I specifically went through a “wide excision melanoma, soft tissue defect reconstruction with adjacent tissue rearrangement.”’
She explained, ‘Basically they cut out the area of my shoulder and replaced it with a flap of skin from below on my back.’
The first photo of the carousel showed the star propped up in bed as she wore blue pajamas and gave a thumbs up.

Her caption went on to say about the uncomfortable process: ‘But the pain and discomfort are all worth it.
‘The outpouring of love and prayers in the comments and DMs has left me speechless (which is tough). I wish I could respond to everyone but please know I am forever grateful.’
Teddi advised her following, ‘Please get your skin checked. I promise you do not want to go through this’
In a video clip posted to her stories, she said, ‘I’m out of surgery. Now I’m just waiting to be discharged to the nursing facility.
‘It’s pretty painful but I am so grateful that they did such a great job. Whew, that back skin is tight…struggle bus, but I’m hoping they got it all.’
Days ago Mellencamp revealed the immunotherapy she’d been doing failed.
After being diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in October 2022, she had Aldara imiquimod cream spread over the back of her right shoulder for several weeks.
The tearful star took to Instagram to update fans, saying: ‘It was not successful. So I have two different options. I can either do a big skin graft from my belly or arm, but it’s a very long recovery.’

Mellencamp gave a shoutout to her pal Jenn Leipart, who has ‘kept her laughing’
She added, ‘Or I can go in and get another wide excision surgery on December 26 [to remove a larger portion of problematic area]. And they’ll have a plastic surgeon come too because it’s such a big area.
‘And then just keep getting my checks every three months. So that’s where we are. Get your skin checked, folks!’
Prior to her most recent surgery, her husband Edwin Arroyave issued a thoughtful note of encouragement on Instagram.
‘As Teddi goes in for the biggest surgery in her melanoma journey today, I just wanted to share how her absolute strength through it all has been nothing short of incredible,’ he wrote, adding, ‘I know this battle is close to being won, and I cannot wait to see how she continues to impact every person around her. I love you, Mama.’
