He’s been planning to release new music for some time.
And it seems two weeks after Zayn Malik split from Gigi Hadid is as good a time as ever, as the former One Direction star took to Instagram to tease clips from a new video.
The trailer is brief, showing a series of segments from what is presumed to be the 25-year-old’s next single’s video.
‘The story continues…’ Zayn Malik FINALLY teased new music in a mob-inspired trailer on Instagram on Saturday
Filmed pre-peroxide blonde makeover – and presumably before he and Gigi split – Zayn is seen in a mob/gangster-themed scenario, delivering a suspicious briefcase to a smartly-dressed man in a plush living room.
Dressed in a colourful shirt, sporting dark cropped hair and thick stubble, the action takes place while nondescript music drones in the background – not giving anything away about the style of the new track.
Zayn is seen walking against a skyline of a city, by the water, where he picks up a public telephone with a cigarette tucked behind his ear.
The trailer doesn’t give much more than that away, ending with the tag line: ‘The story continues…’

This is not only the first music to come from Zayn since the split, it’s the first in 2018.
He released four tracks officially in 2016, when he made his comeback as a solo artist, having left One Direction.
These included Don’t Wanna Live Forever, with Taylor Swift, as part of the soundtrack for Fifty Shades Darker.
In 2017 he released two collaboration tracks – Dusk Till Dawn with Sia and Still Got Time with PartyNextDoor.
He is expected to release his sophomore studio album this year, which is the follow up to 2016 Mind Of Mine.
Zayn showed off his new blonde locks and heavily-inked torso as he puffed on a cigarette while topping up his tan at his rented mansion earlier in the week.
The Dusk Till Dawn singer displayed his latest rose tattoo- which some fans have dubbed a ‘rat’s tail’ – with his partially shaven hairstyle.
His newly-dyed peroxide blond locks hark back to when he transformed his hairstyle for the video of his first single Pillowtalk, when he was still very much in the throes of his romance with model Gigi.
Last week, Zayn, who has been spending time in Miami writing songs, settled days of speculation over the state of his romance with the American stunner, when he confirmed their shock split in a statement.

Recognise it? Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed that Zayn last bleached his locks around the time he released his debut single Pillowtalk, which also starred his now ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid
His post on Twitter read: ‘Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend. She has such an incredible soul.
‘I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ.’
Just 11 minutes after Zayn put out his post, Gigi released her own statement on the micro-blogging site, writing: ‘Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years.. not only in the relationship, but in life in general.
‘I’m forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever’s meant to be will always be. xG.’
