Pat Cummins slammed after dropping Scott Boland for Mitchell Starc in second Ashes Test

Pat Cummins slammed by cricket fans after bold call to drop Scott Boland for Mitchell Starc despite Lord’s wicket appearing to be PERFECT for veteran bowler: ‘This is a guaranteed loss for Australia’

Pat Cummins and the Australian selectors have copped a lashing on social media for dropping Scott Boland for the second Ashes Test against England.

The tourists made just one change to the team that beat Ben Stokes’s swashbuckling side at Edgbaston last week, with Mitchell Starc coming in for the veteran seamer at Lord’s.

However, the green wicket at the Home of Cricket is seemingly a glorious surface for Boland, who has caused England’s batters plenty of problems with his variation in the past.

As a result, Cummins’ decision presents a huge gamble for the Aussies, who are looking to move to a strong 2-0 lead this series.

Cricket fans took to Twitter to question the call, fearing it might backfire for the World Test champions.

‘Mitchell Starc picked instead of Scott Boland,’ one fan said. ‘This is a guaranteed loss for Australia.’

‘Justice for Scott Boland,’ another said.

A third fan said: ‘What does Scott Boland have to do to keep his spot? Bowled a damn sight better than Hazlewood.’
