A mother has claimed she found a sharp piece of plastic in her packaged Woolworths salad.

Deb Larks sat down to dinner with her family on Tuesday night with the Asian salad she purchased from Plainland Woolworths in Queensland’s south east.

But when she opened the packet she was horrified to find a large piece of jagged plastic.

She took to Facebook in a warning to shoppers, and to express her disgust at Woolies.

‘This was in our Woolies Asian Salad tonight. It is hard sharp jagged plastic. Please be careful if you purchase this product,’ Ms Larks wrote.

‘Please warn any family or friends who buy this product.’

Photos she posted to Facebook show the clear object, which was hiding in the crunchy noodle salad.

The mother went back Woolworths to return the salad and asked the appropriate people be notified to prevent the problem injuring someone in the future.

Woolworths has begun an investigation into the incident.

‘Hi Deb, thanks for bringing this to our attention and we apologise once again for your experience. We understand that we’ve been in touch with you to discuss this incident further,’ they said in a statement addressed to Ms Larks on Facebook.

Ms Larks later made a new post asking opinions on whether she should have posted the photos in response to accusations of greed.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Woolworths for comment.
