A man has been shot by police after he reportedly threatened them with a weapon in Far North Queensland.
It’s understood the man had stolen a police car and was seen driving erratically along Mulgrave Road, in Woree, Cairns, on Wednesday morning just after 8am.
Police pursued the driver for about an hour before it crashed into other vehicles outside the Woree IGA.

The man was shot several times when he threatened officers with a metal pole, the Courier Mail reported.
The man has been taken to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition.
Queensland Police said in a statement police are responding to an ‘unfolding incident’.
‘There is no threat to the public and police are asking people to avoid the area,’ they said.
Northbound lanes along the Bruce Highway near Mulgrave Rd were initially closed but have since reopened.
